A community of practice is a member driven endeavor where individuals share ideas around specific topics which bring value to their discipline and business. A community of practice is usually driven by a volunteer who has considerable knowledge or experience around the topic being discussed. The duration of a community of practice is arbitrary and lasts as long as the interest and initiative of the members remain.
