Bad Apple Management: Dealing with Difficult People on Projects

Managers tasked with leading people in most organizations get the whole spectrum of staff – both sides of the normal curve.  Some of our staff are three standard deviations to the left, super performers, and others are three standard deviations to the right, bad apples.  This talk reports on the latest research in identifying and managing difficult people on project teams, their effect on team performance, and appropriate organizational responses to bad apples.

Bill Dannemaier, PMP

Mr. Dannemaier is a project manager, trainer, and consultant, and has managed projects in energy (upstream and downstream), telecommunications, Information Technology (IT), consulting, and the military before becoming a trainer. Bill earned an MBA from Cornell University in Ithaca, NY; an MA from the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, VA, and a BS from Austin Peay State University in Clarksville, TN.  Bill graduated from Officer Candidate School, Surface Warfare Officer Basic, and Main Propulsion Assistant schools in the U.S. Navy.  Bill is certified as an administrator of the Myers-Briggs Type Instrument (MBTI) and as a Project Management Professional (PMP®).  Bill is CEO BlackBox Migrations, LLC, (d/b/a BlackBox Partners).
